Learn more about Quattro Valli

What is the history of the Quattro Valli estate?

Quattro Valli has its roots in 1882, thanks to the meeting between Achille Ferrari, a carpenter specializing in the production of wine barrels, and Antonio Perini, a young farmer and winemaker from Val d'Arda. Their sons, Renato and Guido, managed the business during the World Wars. Today, the new generations, Paolo, Stefano, and Massimo, continue this family tradition with increased knowledge and capabilities, making the estate increasingly significant.

Where are Quattro Valli's vineyards located and what are their advantages?

Quattro Valli's vineyards are located at 250 meters altitude, in the surrounding hills of Piacenza, with a southeast exposure. This unique territory, composed of ancient lands, brings freshness and minerality to the wines. The viticulture system used is simple Guyot and cordon pruning, allowing for quality production.

How are the harvest and winemaking processes conducted at Quattro Valli?

The harvest at Quattro Valli is done both manually and mechanically, with an average production of about 70/80 quintals per hectare. The vineyard has a cellar located in Montale, with a storage capacity in stainless steel, vitrified cement, and fiberglass tanks. The wine is fermented using the Martinotti method in an autoclave to produce sparkling wine. Each step of the winemaking process is meticulously controlled to ensure consistent quality.

What types of wines does Quattro Valli produce?

Quattro Valli offers a varied selection of wines, including still, frizzante, and sparkling wines, reflecting the best characteristics of Italian terroirs. The local grape varieties include Gutturnio, Ortrugo, and Malvasia, while the international varieties include Sauvignon, Pinot Nero, and Cabernet. The rigorous production process ensures that each wine expresses the best of its original territory.

How does Quattro Valli commit to the environment?

Quattro Valli is in the process of converting to organic farming and has been working ecologically for several years. They use only natural substances for treatments and fertilizers in the vineyard, reducing their environmental impact and promoting sustainable viticulture.

What is Quattro Valli's reputation?

Quattro Valli is recognized among the best Italian wineries. The Corriere della Sera places Quattro Valli in the top 100 Italian wineries. Furthermore, the estate has obtained BRC-IFS certification with the highest score, demonstrating the quality and safety of its production processes.
