Located in Ghislenghien, Belgium, Belvas Chocolate Factory produces organic and ethical chocolate, using high-quality ingredients from organic farms and fairly managed cooperatives. 100% of the chocolate is certified "FairTrade" by Max Havelaar! In addition, Belvas continues to work towards an increasingly sustainable world by developing direct relationships with six cooperatives. One factory construction in Ivory Coast is also in progress to include the producing countries as a part of the transformation process of the cocoa bean. Belvas has included a producer cooperative in its share capital in Belgium. The cooperative is called ECOOKIM in the Ivory Coast. It gathers 30.000 producers, and Belvas builds a privileged partnership with it to increase and improve the income of the cocoa producers. Multiple social projects in addition to Fairtrade premiums (such as reforestation projects and construction of wells) are also supported directly with the local cooperatives thanks to purchase premiums paid by Belvas.
